Head Coverings

“In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man of woman.” (1Cor 11:11 ISV)

The contentious issue of head coverings for female Christian worshippers is the only material ritual remaining from Bible times.  The one passage which appears to require it is recognized to be one of the most obscure passages in the NT; no interpretation has yet fully accounted for all its contradictory components.  The issues are set in a wider context in the documents below, with special attention to the historical background to Paul's letter to Corinth.
